Grimsby Town boss David Artell has refused to rule out a move for Bristol Rovers target Kamil Conteh this month but insisted that his side have received no bid yet.
The 21-year-old midfielder has been a standout performer for Grimsby this season and he has attracted attention from League One outfit Bristol Rovers.
It has been suggested that the Gas have seen a bid rejected by Grimsby for Conteh’s signature.
Artell stated that he is not surprised that Conteh has admirers in the market and believes that if the Bristol Rovers target keeps on performing like that, he will draw more attention to him.
When asked about Bristol Rovers’ interest in Grimsby Town midfielder, Artell told BBC Radio Humberside: “When things happen, it will happen if they do happen
.“Obviously, Kam was exceptional on Saturday, along with a few others.
“And if he keeps proving like that, he is going to get admirers.
“There is no doubt about it.”
Artell refused to rule out the possibility of a move for the midfielder in the ongoing window and pointed out that a transfer will be dependent on conditions
When asked whether he is ruling out a move for Conteh this month, he replied: “I would like to say yes, definitely, and the next summer, the summer after that summer and the winter after that, but it is not like [that].
“That is a hypothetical question, because I am pretty certain that if Manchester United come here and offer £10m, I would be driving him to Old Trafford.
“So it is hypothetical, based on who? when? How much? Is it right for Kamil? Is it right for his agent?.
“So there are too many variables for me to stand in and go yes or no to that one.”
The Grimsby boss also insisted that the League Two outfit have not received any bid for Conteh in the ongoing window.
When questioned about whether the club received any bids for the Bristol Rovers target, he said: “No”.
Bristol Rovers boss Matt Taylor is keen on bringing in midfield additions this month and all eyes will be on Conteh to see what lies in his future.
