Charlton Athletic target Will Goodwin is undergoing a medical at Oxford United ahead of his transfer from Cheltenham Town, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 21-year-old striker is on the cusp of leaving Cheltenham in the ongoing winter transfer window.

He has been wanted at several League One clubs this month and Charlton and Oxford United have been tussling to get his signature.

Both clubs improved upon their initial bids but ultimately Oxford seem to have edged Charlton out to the signature of Goodwin.

It has been claimed that the forward has checked in for a medical at Oxford United this morning.

He is being put through his paces ahead of Oxford United completing the formalities of the transfer.

The U’s are sitting sixth in the league table and are hopeful that his arrival will boost their promotion hopes this season.

If Charlton want to make one last final deal hijack attempt then time is running out.

Goodwin has scored six times in 16 League One appearances this season for a Cheltenham side who are trying to avoid relegation.
