Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund discussed the possibility of signing Arsenal-linked midfielder Martin Zubimendi next summer during the German champions’ training camp in Portugal.

The Real Sociedad midfielder is expected to move on from the Spanish club at the end of the season.

Several clubs across Europe have been keeping tabs on the player to potentially get their hands on him in the summer.

Arsenal are amongst the teams who have their eyes on Zubimendi, but they are likely to face stiff competition from Bayern Munich.

The Bavarians have been keeping an eye on Zubimendi for a while and according to German magazine Sport Bild, high-level meetings took place in Portugal where Bayern Munich are holding a training camp.

Freund, the club’s sporting director, held discussions with the club’s hierarchy over potentially moving for Zubimendi in the summer.

The club are discussing the possibility of pushing forward with an attempt to sign the Real Sociedad star.

Bayern Munich are looking to put in work behind the scenes to make sure they are in place to sign him next summer.
