Port Vale star Uche Ikpeazu has arrived in London as Charlton Athletic close in on his signature, according to the South London Press.

Michael Appleton is keen on beefing up his forward department in the ongoing transfer window.

Charlton agreed a deal with Cheltenham Town for Will Goodwin, but the player refused a move to the Valley in favour of a move to Oxford United.

The Addicks shifted their focus to other targets and Port Vale’s 28-year-old striker, Ikpeazu, is on their transfer wishlist.

Ikpeazu joined Port Vale in the summer on a free transfer, but is set to be quickly on the move.

It has been suggested that Charlton have agreed to a deal with Port Vale to sign the forward.

And it has been claimed that Charlton are closing in on capturing the signature of Ikpeazu as the player has arrived in London.

With Ikpeazu now in the capital, Charlton will look to quickly push his capture over the line.

It remains to be seen if Appleton will have Ikpeazu at his disposal for the weekend game against Burton Albion.
