Aston Villa and Wolves made a late bid for Lucas Bergvall, but the player decided against changing his decision to join Tottenham Hotspur.

Bergvall has agreed on a contract to join Tottenham in the summer from Swedish side Djurgarden.

Barcelona courted him extensively and he even visited the Nou Camp before deciding to give in to the overtures of Tottenham last week.

However, it has been claimed that two more clubs made a late move to try and hijack Tottenham’s pursuit of the 18-year-old midfielder.

According to Swedish outlet Fotballdirekt, Aston Villa and Wolves made a late pitch to Bergvall in their pursuit to hijack the deal.

The two Premier League clubs were prepared to offer a guaranteed fee of €12m to €13m to Djurgarden and made a lucrative offer to the player as well.

However, Bergvall’s mind was made up about Tottenham and he declined the offers from Aston Villa and Wolves.

The north London club could end up paying as much as €18.5m to Djurgarden if the midfielder hits all the targets after joining the club.

The teenager will also be earning a cool €33,000 per week as part of the contract he has signed with Tottenham.
