Mark Wilson has insisted that Celtic fans cannot expect their side to be dominating Scottish football forever and at some point, Rangers were expected to be a bit better.
Celtic fans were left furious over the weekend when Rangers moved to the top of the Scottish Premiership standings and opened up a two-point lead over the Bhoys.
There have already been calls for Brendan Rodgers to be sacked and there is real fear amongst the Celtic faithful that Rangers now could run away with the title given their form.
Wilson conceded that Rangers have gone backwards since Ange Postecoglou left and the team have not been good enough in terms of their performances this season.
However, he stressed that Celtic fans cannot expect their team to dominate Scottish football until the end of time and there will always be moments when Rangers will come up.
The former Celtic star said on Clyde 1’s Superscoreboard: “Backwards from Ange Postecoglou’s first season and second season? Yes, of course.
“Celtic have dropped points, gone back, the performances haven’t been good enough and at the same time, Rangers have been better.
“But surely that is to be expected sometime from now until the end of history.”
Celtic will now hope that they get their season back on track when they take on Motherwell next weekend.
