Former top flight star Craig Moore has stressed that the Celtic players are struggling to deal with the pressure they are feeling from the stands.

Celtic are now trailing Rangers in the title race by two points after last weekend’s action that saw them draw 1-1 at home against Kilmarnock.

The fans have been left infuriated by Celtic’s level of performances over the last few weeks despite their unbeaten run that has stretched to ten games.

Moore insisted that Rangers deserve credit for hanging in the title race this season despite struggling for form at certain point of the season but admitted that the story is Celtic’s drop in level.

He stressed that it is clear that the pressure exerted by the fans is finally telling on the players and the Celtic players are struggling to deal with the atmosphere around the club at the moment.

The Australian said on the Go Radio Football Show: “Rangers have hung in there for a large part of the season without playing well fantastically well themselves.

“And now Celtic, probably after a long time, are going through a sticky patch where you can really sense that the players are struggling with the atmosphere.

“And the pressure that comes from the fans when they don’t exactly see what they want.”

Celtic’s failure to defend the Scottish League Cup this season and their early exit from Europe has further cranked up the pressure on the team.
