Rangers star Dujon Sterling has admitted that the Gers playing in Europe was one of the massive reasons why he joined the Ibrox outfit.

The 24-year-old defender joined Rangers from Chelsea last summer and has featured regularly for Philippe Clement’s side this season.

Sterling has featured twice for the Gers so far in the Europa League and he might get more opportunities to feature in Europe when Rangers take on Benfica in March.

The Rangers star stated that the opportunity to play in European competitions played a massive part in him joining Rangers and admitted that he has enjoyed their journey in the Europa League so far.

Sterling also added that playing in European competitions will help him raise his level and he is hoping to beat Benfica to progress to the next round.

When asked whether Rangers being in European competitions played a role in his decision to join the club, Sterling said at a press conference: “Yes, it was a massive part.

“Obviously, everyone wants to play in Europe and for me, I just wanted to be involved in that as well and see and raise my game to another level than I have done before.

“At the moment, I have enjoyed it.

“I have enjoyed the run we have been on and hopefully we can progress to the next round also.”

The 24-year-old has so far featured 21 times for Rangers in all competitions this season and will be hoping to play a key role in helping the Gers progress further in the Europa League.
