Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl is a big fan of Manchester United linked manager Roberto De Zerbi, it has been claimed in Germany.

De Zerbi has been linked with a move to a bigger club ahead of the end of the ongoing season.

Brighton’s inconsistencies this season have not dimmed the Italian’s star and he has been termed one of the most innovative coaches in the last 20 years by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

The Brighton boss is being looked at as a potential replacement for Erik ten Hag by Manchester United.

It has been claimed that Bayern Munich are also keeping an eye on him and according to German broadcaster Sky Deutschland, in Eberl, De Zerbi has a fan in the club hierarchy.

Xabi Alonso remains Bayern Munich’s top target but they are looking at other alternatives as well.

The Brighton manager is on their shortlist and Eberl is a big fan of the Italian’s style of football.

If they fail to attract Alonso, the German champions could consider moving for De Zerbi.

The Italian has a £12m release clause in his contract with Brighton who will not stand in his way if they get the money.

Brighton were thrashed 4-0 by Roma in the first leg of their Europa League last 16 tie on Thursday night.
