Norwich City out on loan attacker Christos Tzolis has expressed his desire to stay with Fortuna Dusseldorf if the team achieve promotion this season.

The 22-year-old winger joined Norwich in the summer of 2021 from PAOK Salonika and this summer he left the Carrow Road outfit to sign on loan for second tier German side Dusseldorf.

Dusseldorf are in the race for promotion and Tzolis has been in brilliant form for them, as he has scored 14 goals in 22 league games so far.

Tzolis has revealed that his preference is to stay with the German outfit if they are able get promoted this season and stressed that he is very happy and enjoying his football with Dusseldorf.

The Norwich loanee stressed that his loan deal has a purchase option that will expire in May and that he is hoping that something good will happen for him in the summer.

When asked about his future, Tzolis was quoted as saying by German daily Bild: “If we manage that [promotion], I would be very reluctant to leave the club.

“The purchase option runs until the end of May, so the decision will be made after the season.

“I’m enjoying this time, it’s one of the best phases of my career. But I hope that this is just the beginning.

“My job is to play football, perform and win games – the rest is the boss’ job.

“I like the city, I love the club and the people here.

“I’ve only been here for seven months and it feels like it’s been two or three years.

“I hope that something good will happen in the summer.”

It has been suggested that Dusseldorf consider the €5m purchase option for the Norwich winger to be too high.

It remains to be seen whether they will be able to reach an agreement with the Canaries to keep Tzolis in Germany next season.
