Former Hibernian attacker Tam McManus has set a points target for Hibs for the next two league games as they push to secure a top-six spot before the split.

Hibernian were knocked out of the Scottish Cup over the weekend when they lost 2-0 to Rangers in the quarter-finals at Easter Road.

McManus insisted that the home side competed well on the pitch with Rangers, who are sitting at the top of the Scottish Premiership summit at the moment.

He stressed that Hibernian were desperately unlucky with some of the decisions that went against them especially the penalty that Rangers received and the red card for John Obita.

He wrote in his column for the Scottish Daily Record: “On the field, I thought that Hibs performed well against Rangers.

“Two or three decisions went against them. The penalty was soft, I think Dujon Sterling went down too easily.

“The second yellow for Jordan Obita was just a coming together.

“And the red card.. people will say Nathan Moriah-Welsh was out of control but he’s trying to block a pass up the line and hasn’t touched John Lundstram.

“Unfortunately, the Scottish Cup’s gone now.”

McManus insisted that Hibs must focus on getting the maximum points from their next two league games as that could more or less seal a top-six spot before the split.

“Hibs have Ross County away tonight then Livingston at home on Saturday.

“Take six points from that and they are nearly home in the race for the top six. That’s got to be the focus.”
