Timo Werner does not have a future at RB Leipzig even if Tottenham Hotspur decide against taking up the option on him, it has been claimed in Germany.

Werner joined Spurs from Leipzig in the winter transfer and has been a key part of Ange Postecoglou’s squad.

The Tottenham boss recently praised the German for adding one more option to his squad in the latter half of the season.

Tottenham have an option to make the move permanent for a fee of €17m but a decision on his future has not been made yet.

According to German broadcaster Sky Deutschland, the forward does not have a future at Leipzig regardless of Spurs’ decision and is expected to then move elsewhere.

Tottenham have until the start of the European Championship to trigger the clause in the loan agreement with Leipzig.

Werner is happy at Tottenham and is keen to continue at the north London club for the long term.

He has no plans to return to Leipzig and will consider other offers if Tottenham decline to take up the option on him.

The desire on the part of the player and Leipzig is for a separation in the summer.
