Liverpool could get Sporting Lisbon coach Ruben Amorim for less than his release clause figure, it has been claimed in Portugal.

With Xabi Alonso staying at Bayer Leverkusen next season, Amorim is now a red hot contender to slot in as the next Kop boss.

Liverpool have been closely analysing the Sporting Lisbon coach and he has scored highly on their models, making him a big favourite of those tasked with picking Jurgen Klopp’s successor.

The club are also facing stiff competition from Barcelona who want the Portuguese to replace Xabi Hernandez in Catalunya.

Amorim has two release clauses in his deal, set at €20m for clubs outside Portugal and €30m inside Portugal.

However, according to Portuguese journalist Pedro Sepulveda, Liverpool could get him for less.

It is claimed that Liverpool would be able to grab Amorim from Sporting Lisbon for a fee of €15m.

The cash is not likely to be an issue for Liverpool if they do decide the Portuguese is the right man to fill Klopp’s shoes.
