Trabzonspor ‘could not get positive results’ from their initial negotiations with Southampton to bring back striker Paul Onuachu.

The powerful striker has just completed a loan at Trabzonspor and hugely impressed the Turkish outfit, posing a constant goal threat in the Turkish Super Lig.

Trabzonspor are clear they want to bring Onuachu back to the club and have been working to try to agree a deal with Southampton.

However, they ‘could not get positive results’ from their first set of negotiations with the newly promoted Premier League side, according to Turkish daily Star.

Southampton are thought to want to sell Onuachu rather than loan him out again, while Trabzonspor favour another loan.

The Black Sea Storm will hope that they can convince Saints to change their stance and strike a fresh deal for the Nigerian.

Onuachu became Trabzonspor’s most effective goalscorer in recent years with an average goal return of 0.71 goals per game.

In so doing he overtook Alexander Sorloth, who bagged an average of 0.70 goals per game.

Whether he will return to Trabzonspor from Southampton this summer though remains unclear.
