Luton Town and Norwich City are interested in raiding Nottingham Forest for a loan signing, but the City Ground outfit would prefer to sell him, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Midfielder Lewis O’Brien spent last season on loan at Championship side Middlesbrough, where he featured 23 times in the league.

He still has two years left on his Nottingham Forest contract but he is not part of the club’s plans moving forward.

O’Brien remains a coveted player at Championship level and Luton and Norwich are interested in getting their hands on him.

They are exploring signing the midfielder on a loan deal from the Premier League side in the ongoing transfer window.

However, Nottingham Forest would prefer to sell him over another loan deal as they want to bring in the cash for their coffers.

They are hopeful a club will eventually stump up the cash for him on a permanent deal at some point this summer.

It remains to be seen whether Luton or Norwich are prepared to offer a transfer fee for O’Brien in the ongoing transfer window.
