The former agent of Marseille striker Loic Remy insists that all the Frenchman can hope to do if he moves to Newcastle United is to earn money, with trophies unlikely to come.

Remy looks to have his heart set on joining the Magpies during the current transfer window, and Newcastle are poised to make Marseille an offer for the 26-year-old.

Remy has already rejected the chance to move to another English side, QPR, and appears to be tempted more by the prospect of playing at St. James’ Park, where there is already a strong francophone contingent.

Indeed, Newcastle have just snapped up Mathieu Debuchy from Lille.

Remy’s former agent Frederic Guerra, feels that Newcastle are an "exotic" choice, where the striker cannot expect to win silverware.

"This is an exotic club par excellance", he told French radio station RMC.

"Over there they’ll take the money and nothing more.

"It’s been years since Newcastle have won anything!"

Remy’s first job, should he join Newcastle, will be helping Alan Pardew’s men steer a course away from relegation trouble in the Premier League.
