Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa is due to fly to Newcastle tomorrow, where a four-and-a-half-year contract awaits at St. James’ Park.

The Montpellier defender has seen Newcastle agree a fee of €8M for his services, and is now set to finalise a switch to join Alan Pardew’s men.

Yanga-Mbiwa came close to leaving Montpellier last summer, when he had just one year remaining on his contract.

However, Montpellier would not sell their star defender and persuaded him to pen a fresh deal, with the promise that he would be sold for a set amount in the future, which Newcastle have offered.
