Toulouse midfielder Moussa Sissoko is extremely interested in joining Newcastle, and the Magpies are tempted to sign him, according to French sports daily L’Equipe.

Sissoko’s contract at Toulouse expires in the summer and the French side are ready to sell him this month to at least realise a small fee before losing him for free.

The midfielder has held talks with Marseille, after Elie Baup’s men agreed a fee of around €3.5M with Toulouse.

However, Sissoko is not sure on joining Marseille and is waiting to see what other options present themselves.

Within France, Monaco are ready to join the race, while from England interest comes from QPR and Newcastle.

And it is the Magpies who are interesting Sissoko the most.

The 23-year-old sees the chance to land with a large French-speaking contingent at St. James’ Park, which certainly appeals.

Sissoko’s future is set to take a further step towards being resolved this week, with talks due with his advisors and representatives of QPR in the first instance.
