Yoan Gouffran has announced that he will join Newcastle United tomorrow.

The striker was the subject of a bid from the Magpies, which was rejected by Bordeaux earlier this week, but now it seems an agreement has been reached.

And Gouffran has confirmed that he is heading to sign for Alan Pardew’s men, with the forward stressing he needs a new challenge.

"A big thank you to all those who’ve supported me in good and bad times", he wrote on his Twitter account.

"I thank the board of the club, the staff, for having me.

"I needed a new challenge and I therefore hope that you will respect my choice. I will follow the progress of Bordeaux.

"Tomorrow I will be a new Newcastle player and I am proud.

"Thank you everyone."

Securing Gouffran’s signature will be a huge boost for Newcastle, who have been looking for a striker to replace Demba Ba.

The pressure will be on the forward though to score the goals to help the Magpies away from the Premier League relegation zone.
