Newcastle defender Mike Williamson believes that boss Alan Pardew has found the right balance in the team following successive victories over Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

The Magpies look to have comprehensively turned the corner by downing Jose Mourinho's men and Andre Villas-Boas' troops, beating Chelsea 2-0 at St. James' Park and then Spurs 1-0 at White Hart Lane.

They now sit ninth in the table after what had been a lacklustre start to the new Premier League campaign.

And Williamson has backed Pardew for finding just the right mix in terms of his side.

"The gaffer's been searching for a mix that would give us some consistency in performance and now the team is working really well together", the defender was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"Keeping clean sheets against Chelsea and Spurs shows he has found the right balance to keep it tight.

"It's a great platform because we know with the quality we have in attack, we'll score goals."
