Daryl Janmaat said that he feels relieved after Newcastle United’s first win of the Premier League season.

Before this weekend the Magpies were without a league win this term and had lost four of their first seven league fixtures.

But the 1-0 win on Saturday against Leicester City came as a relief for manager Alan Pardew, who has come under severe criticism from the Newcastle fans this season.

Janmaat, who joined the club this summer from Feyenoord, said that the win was very important for Newcastle’s campaign.

The Dutchman stressed that performances in the last few weeks have improved and he could see the win coming.

“I am very happy with this victory”, Janmaat was quoted as saying by Soccer News.

“In the recent games against Swansea and Stoke, I had the feeling that the first win of the season is not too far away.

“The 1-0 result is at least lifting us up from the bottom of the table.”

Newcastle are still not out of the relegation zone and are in 18th in the league table on seven points.
