West Ham United have completed a major coup by signing 16-year-old winger Daniel Kemp, who recently left London rivals Chelsea.

Kemp, who had been at Chelsea since the age of just six, has put pen to paper on a long-term contract with the Hammers after deciding his future would be best served at Upton Park.

The 16-year-old has signed a one-year scholarship agreement and will then sign a three-year contract in July 2016 as his looks to take the next step in his career.

Kemp is delighted to have completed his move to West Ham and told the club's official site: "I’m over the moon to have signed for West Ham. It’s a great club and I can really see a good pathway and a positive culture here."

He also admits he enjoyed a productive conversation with West Ham academy boss Terry Westley, who has been tracking his progress for some time.

"Speaking to academy manager Terry Westley, it sounds like they’ve been watching me for a couple of years. It was about trying to find the right time to move, now I’m here I’m so pleased and really looking forward to my future."

West Ham could slot Kemp straight into their Under-18s squad for tomorrow's match against Leicester City.

All eyes will be on the winger's progress at West Ham, especially as the Hammers fought off competition from a number of other sides to tempt the 16-year-old to Upton Park.
