Chelsea youth coach Andy Myers feels an underwhelming first half performance was the key reason behind the Chelsea Under-21s' defeat to PSV Eindhoven last night.
The Blues youngsters departed the Premier League International Cup in the semi-final stage at the hands of the Dutch giants after suffering a 2-1 defeat at Aldershot.
Chelsea took the lead after just six minutes when Kasey Palmer fired in a shot, but PSV equalised swiftly, and scored the crucial second goal just before the break, which deflated the home side.
Myers has bemoaned a lacklustre first half performance, and feels too many of his players lacked conviction and bravery while on the ball before the break, which eventually led to their downfall.
He admits his players showed a distinct lack of quality in the first half, which was unusual for a Chelsea youth side.

When asked whether he feels the first half performance was not one of their best, Myers told Chelsea TV: “Far from it.
“The things that we have shown in the previous rounds, we were still playing and showing.
"I am not sure it was the occasion, but a few people were not brave enough to make decisions on the ball.
“The quality was not actually there, and it all seemed a little overwhelming.”
