Magpies boss Steve Bruce’s pursuit in the winter window to add a new midfielder to his squad culminated in him roping in Willock from Arsenal on a six-month loan deal on deadline day.
Newcastle are currently struggling in the Premier League with only one win in their last eleven outings, and club new boy Willock is hoping he can play a key role in turning his team’s fortunes around during the second part of the campaign.
Willock revealed he feels his best on the pitch while playing as a box-to-box midfielder, chipping in with goals, helping the team defend and vowed he will give his all every time he takes to the field.
Asked where he hopes to fit in under Bruce, Willock told NUFC TV: “I do not think I cannot share the plan [that Bruce has for him]; I can tell what I can do and where I fit in.
“I feel like I am a box-to-box midfielder.
“I can score goals, I will defend.
“I will run my socks off and I will fight for every moment on the pitch for the team.”
Willock stressed he is determined to help his new team in any way he can while emphasising the Magpies need to get a winning run in the league going, which he is keen on contributing to.
“I just want to help the team in any way possible.
“I want to score goals, I want to defend, I want to help the team.
“I think we need to go up the table and I think we need to go on a run of winning games.
“So, I just want to contribute and so helping the team do that.”
Willock played a bit part role under Gunners boss Mikel Arteta this season, with seven top flight appearances to his name, and will look to feature more frequently under his new manager during the remaining six months of the campaign.
