Spurs were forced to turn to other managerial options after RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann agreed to a five-year deal with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

There have been suggestions that the north London outfit have now placed Wolfsburg coach Oliver Glasner and Ajax boss Erik ten Hag on their shortlist.

However, Red Bull Salzburg’s American tactician Marsch appears to have been at the top Spurs’ wanted list to succeed Jose Mourinho.

Spurs though will have to strike Marsch’s name off the list as he has agreed to replace Nagelsmann at RB Leipzig.

And, according to German magazine Kicker, the coach turned down Tottenham in favour of succeeding Nagelsmann.

Apart from Spurs, Marsch was also contacted by Eintracht Frankfurt, but has decided to take over the reins at RB Leipzig at the end of the season.

It remains to be seen who Daniel Levy will turn to next as another one of his managerial targets decides to move elsewhere.
