The 24-year-old midfielder has been steadily building his reputation in the Bundesliga with Borussia Monchengladbach and has been linked with a move away from the club his summer.

Liverpool are believed to be interested in the Germany international following the departure of Georginio Wijnaldum on a free transfer at the end of last season.

For the moment, Liverpool are insisting that they are not in the market for a midfielder, but Neuhaus is still believed to be on their radar.

Hamann believes his compatriot would definitely suit Liverpool as he is both technically gifted and is prepared to put in the hard yards on the pitch for the team.

He conceded that Neuhaus might need some time to adapt to the Premier League, but stressed that he is the kind of player Klopp would love to have in his team.

“Neuhaus would definitely suit Liverpool”, Hamann told The Athletic.

“Technically, he’s a very gifted player and he’s also not scared of hard work so there’s a good mix.

“He’s slight in terms of build, he’s certainly not a unit.

“He would probably need some time to adapt to the physical side of English football.

“But he’s a very good passer of the ball and he’s smart. He’s got a football brain.

“He’s really a No 8 who likes to get forward and get into the box.

“He’s creative and he’s a decent finisher. He’s a Klopp kind of player.”

Neuhaus has a contract until 2024, but is largely expected to move on from Gladbach this summer.
