The Swedish giants registered a 4-3 aggregate win over HJK Helsinki in their second round Champions League qualifier, booking a place in the next round.

Malmo are now set to lock horns with Scottish Premiership giants Rangers in a two-legged continental tie on 4th August at the Swedbank Stadion, with the return leg pencilled in for 10th August at Ibrox.

Di blae skipper Christiansen is looking forward to the European clash and insisted that Rangers are clear favourites to go through to the next round as they are the bigger club playing in the better league.

However, Christiansen admitted he is not familiar with any members of the Gers squad other than their manager Gerrard.

Asked whether he thinks Rangers are clear favourites in their upcoming clash, Christiansen told Swedish outlet Fotbollskanalen: “They must be.

“I do not know Rangers at all, I only know who the coach [Gerrard] is, but of course they are favourites.

“They play in a better league and are financially stronger in every way.

“They are a bigger team.

“They are clear favourites.”

Rangers have been easing back to their best through pre-season friendlies including a 2-1 win against Spanish giants Real Madrid and they will be determined to hit peak form come the crucial Malmo clash.
