Alegria, who joined Rangers from Finnish side Honka for a six-figure fee in the summer, scored a hat-trick as the young Gers registered a 3-2 victory over Alloa Athletic in the Scottish Challenge Cup on Wednesday.

Impressed with the 19-year-old’s performance against the League One outfit, some Rangers fans believe he deserves a promotion to Steven Gerrard’s first team squad.

Stephen hailed Alegria as an absolute baller after his hat-trick against Alloa Athletic and pleaded with Rangers to give him a run in the senior team.

Alan says that players are old enough to play for the senior team if they are good enough and feels Alegria is not far away from earning a promotion following his performance in the Scottish Challenge Cup.

Liam suggested that the teenage striker could have been useful for Gerrard’s side in their 2-2 draw against Aberdeen, but admitted that it might be too early for him to make the step up.

Brian, though, insisted that it is not a bad idea to give Alegria a chance in the first team, with Rangers facing goalscoring problems and Ianis Hagi and Kemar Roofe struggling to find their form.

Gareth wants Alegria to have a similar trajectory to that Alfredo Morelos has had since joining Rangers in 2017 and expressed his desire to see the two Colombians lead the line for the side together.

Bryan pointed out that Jermain Defoe has more or less retired as a footballer and explained that Rangers should promote Alegria to the first team to fill the void left by the Englishman.
