Less than a week remains in the winter transfer window, but Leeds are yet to make a new signing this month despite having to deal with a number of injuries to key players that have left their squad shorthanded in several areas.

The Whites have seen approaches for midfielder Brenden Aaronson knocked back by his club Red Bull Salzburg, but it is understood they have not made any concrete moves for any other targets in the ongoing window.

However, ex-Leeds defender Dorigo is confident that the club’s hierarchy will still try to get deals done in the last week of the window, provided the right player pops up on their radar.

Given the extensive training needed for a new signing to get into Marcelo Bielsa’s squad and the difficulty in signing the right player for the right price mid-season, Dorigo admitted he is not surprised that Elland Road has been largely quiet on the transfer front.

“The transfer window closes in the next week and we’re yet to see a senior signing”, Dorigo wrote in his Yorkshire Evening Post column.

“It’s obviously not a scenario where the money is so plentiful that you can go and spend what you want and getting the right player for the right price is difficult, but we also know new signings are not going to go straight in.

“By the time they’re integrated, fit and ready, understanding all the tactics, it’ll be March.

“It’s not a huge surprise, therefore, that we haven’t done a lot of business this month.

“We have, however, been lacking in certain areas and, if the right player came up, I’ve no doubt the owners would put their hand in their pocket and get it done.”

It remains to be seen whether Leeds can get a deal over the line for any of their targets before Monday’s transfer deadline.
