The 21-year-old American was a big target for Leeds in the winter transfer window but Salzburg refused to let him go in the middle of the season.

Leeds tabled bids worth £15m and £20m respectively, but Salzburg held firm and the player did not push for a move despite being intrigued about joining the Whites.

The Yorkshire giants are keen to sign him in the summer when Salzburg are expected to be more open to letting him go.

And it has been claimed that despite interest from other clubs, Leeds remain confident of securing a deal to sign Aaronson at the end of the season.

Clubs such as AC Milan and RB Leipzig are expected to make a move for Aaronson in the summer as well.

But Leeds are optimistic their pitch and the detailed plans that they have for him will convince the player to move to Elland Road.

Leeds made it clear that they were more than willing to sign him and match Salzburg’s valuation as well if the Austrian club were prepared to sell him in January.

The Whites believe that they have laid down enough groundwork to cancel out interest from other clubs in Aaronson.
