Lundstram has been a bit-part player this season at Rangers and was an unused substitute in their 3-0 defeat at Celtic last week.

The midfielder came into the starting eleven against Hearts and produced a commanding performance in a 5-0 win for Rangers at Ibrox.

He kept his place in the team against Hibernian and was solid again as Rangers notched up another home win on Wednesday night.

Dalziel feels given the competition for places in the Rangers midfield, Lundstram has put himself in a solid position in Van Bronckhorst’s thought process for the coming games.

He conceded that the Rangers fans are not completely sold on the player but believes he certainly brings a different quality to the team when he plays.

The former Rangers star said on Clyde 1’s Superscoreboard: “We know there are plenty of games, we know it’s a squad game but I think he has put himself in a good place with his performances.

“I think he has got something to offer.

“He seems to be one of these guys who the Rangers fans look at him and think, ‘not for me, we are not having him’ and then he comes on a few games and you are thinking there is a quality that he has got.

“Especially against Hearts, he was excellent.”

It remains to be seen whether Lundstram starts when Rangers take on Annan Athletic in the Scottish Cup on Saturday.
