Bielsa’s sacking has not gone down too well with the Leeds support, amongst whom he has remained a cult hero who got the club back to the Premier League after 16 years of pain.

Leeds’ poor form and the impending threat of relegation did little to turn the fans against the Argentine and the board have come in for criticism for the way he was ushered out of the door.

Marsch was appointed as the Leeds manager on Monday, just 24 hours after Bielsa was sacked, and Grella stressed it is time the fans back the new man in charge.

The former Leeds star worked under the American at New York Red Bulls in the MLS and indicated that he is a coach of wonderful qualities.

Grella took to Twitter and wrote: “Bielsa [will be] impossible to replicate, a legend no doubt but time to get behind Jesse.

“Had him for 3 years at NYRB, can’t say enough about him.”

Marsch will look to get the Leeds players going before they take the trip to Leicester City next weekend.
