Diaz became the Reds’ only signing in the January transfer window, with the club beating the likes of top flight rivals Tottenham Hotspur to his signature.

The Colombian has registered six appearances for Liverpool across all competitions, catching the eye with a string of strong displays, including in their EFL Cup triumph over Chelsea on Sunday.

Reds legend Aldridge is impressed with how quick Diaz has been able to adapt to English football and has backed him to get even better as his Anfield stint progresses.

Aldridge lauded Diaz for his stellar display against the Blues on Sunday and feels he is proving himself to be the real deal after arriving from Portuguese outfit FC Porto in a big money move.

“Luis Diaz was absolutely electric during Sunday’s cup final win over Chelsea”, Aldridge wrote in his Liverpool Echo column.

“Without putting too much pressure on his shoulders, he has settled in really well and already looks to be the real deal.

“He is a player we could have for a number of years and he will only get better, which is an added bonus.

“It takes a lot of players time to adapt to English football, but he has made light work of it after arriving from Portugal.”

Liverpool are set to return to the pitch on Wednesday in an FA Cup clash against Norwich City at Anfield as they look to take another step to sealing a possible quadruple this season.
