The Whites splashed the cash to land Rodrigo from Valencia during the 2020 summer transfer window and he has struggled to win over a number of fans.

Much was expected of the Spain international, but he has often flattered to deceive and there are question marks over how he will fare under new boss Marsch.

He clocked the full 90 minutes against Southampton on Saturday afternoon and Marsch insists he is fantastic on a daily basis, as well as bringing a real quality to games.

Marsch also revealed a question he posed to Rodrigo and the response he was given.

“Seen publicly people are talking about Rodrigo. I don’t know always what happened before. Every day he has been fantastic”, he told his post match press conference.

“Ever been on a team with so many great guys with such great energy, he said no, never.

“He is playing great and he brings pause for us.

“In the middle of everything we did today.

“The whole group is so locked in and so committed to get better.”

Rodrigo will hope to help Leeds continue to steer clear of relegation trouble in the Premier League this term and then get a full pre-season under Marsch under his belt in the summer to go again.
