Rangers were condemned to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of RB Leipzig in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final tie on Thursday night.

The tie is very much in balance, but Rangers have shown resilience in this season’s Europa league especially because of their ability to get results at home.

Foster feels both teams were satisfied with the 1-0 result in favour of Leipzig, but conceded that Angelino’s late goal changed everything.

He believes without that Rangers could have been defensive at home as well, but will now have to take the risk of scoring an early goal at Ibrox next week to level the tie up.

Foster said on BBC Sportsound: “Both teams will be happy with that.

“But that goal changes everything.

“At Ibrox, you could have set up the same way for 70 minutes and go for it in the last 20.

“Now Rangers are going to have to open up a bit more.”

Rangers have a big Old Firm derby to reckon with against Celtic on Sunday before the second leg against Leipzig, as they prepare for games which will be decisive to their season.
