Leeds managed to escape south London with a point despite not playing at their best and Palace were left frustrated by the Whites’ tactics.

Jesse Marsch’s side kept a tight leash on Zaha during the game and the winger was left baffled by the referee when he did not get some of the decisions in his favour.

Phillips later claimed that Zaha was diving in order to influence the referee, but Vieira defended his player and insisted that a few of the Leeds players should have been cautioned for their treatment of his star man.

The Crystal Palace boss praised Zaha for keeping his calm and focusing on his game despite being systematically targeted by the Leeds players

Reacting to Phillips’ jibe, the Frenchman said in a press conference: “It’s a strange comment.

“I think you can see and watch the game again. Some of them were lucky to not get a yellow card.

“Their plan was clear, to target Wilfried.

“Wilfried remained calm and concentrated on his game.”

Crystal Palace are 14th in the league table on 38 points while Leeds are 16th with 34 points on the board.
