Leeds are currently just above the bottom three with a game left to play, but both Burnley and Everton have a game in hand over the Whites.

Positive results for both teams this week could more or less mean Leeds would need a win on Sunday to survive in the Premier League this season and even that might not be enough.

Keys stressed that Marsch should not be blamed for Leeds’ state and slammed Bielsa for leaving a squad running on empty for the American to manage.

He believes the current Leeds boss has done as much as he could have and if Bielsa was in charge they would have already been gone from the Premier League.

The veteran broadcaster wrote on his personal blog: “Whatever happens at Leeds is not Jesse Marsh’s fault [sic].

“If Bielsa had been left in charge Leeds would’ve been relegated weeks ago. Bielsa left a team brutalised by his regime – absolutely shot – running on empty.

“Marsh has done brilliantly to have Leeds in with a chance of survival.

“I’d save all three clubs if I had my way.

“It’s going to be tough losing one this week.”

Bielsa remains a cult figure at Leeds and his name was on the lips of the Elland Road faithful in their last home game of the season last Sunday.
