The Whites’ destiny is out of their hands as Burnley have a game in hand over them while only being a point and a place behind them in the league table.

Leeds finished ninth last season after obtaining a much-desired promotion to the Premier League, but their stay in the top flight could be coming to an end.

Sutton has revealed that he is worried for the Whites if they get relegated as they face losing some of their best players in Raphinha, who is of interest to Barcelona, and Kalvin Phillips, who has been linked with Aston Villa and, more controversially, Manchester United.

The former Premier League winner is wary of Leeds’ fate should they be relegated back to the Championship and believes that they were lucky to get something out of the game against Brighton last weekend.

“I worry for Leeds if they get relegated and there’s a strong possibility they will get relegated”, Sutton said on the Monday Night Club.

“Raphinha’s been linked with Barcelona, looks like he’s going to go, their key man.

“Kalvin Phillips, he’s another one, will he want to hang around in the Championship?

“I’m worried what could happen.

“A lot of Leeds fans, they loved Marcelo Bielsa, absolutely loved Bielsa.

“I think we’ve talked about Leeds a few times and talked about what is their identity under Jesse Marsch.”

The Whites will be hoping Burnley lose against Aston Villa on Thursday night and that they can approach the match against Brentford, who defeated another relegation candidate in Everton last weekend, knowing their destiny lies in their own hands.
