A 2-1 win at Brentford on the final day and a defeat for Burnley meant Leeds managed to stay in the Premier League despite starting Sunday in the bottom three.

There was a sense of relief and elation at the final whistle for the Leeds players and fans present in west London on the final day as they lived to fight another season in the Premier League.

However, the overall campaign was a disappointment, especially after Leeds finished in the top half of the table in their first year back in the top flight of English football.

James thanked the fans for sticking by the team through a difficult season and stressed that the team will look to do better and come back strong in the 2022/23 campaign.

The Leeds star posted a photo on Twitter and wrote: “Been a season of up and downs but you stuck by us until the end!

“We will come back stronger next season.”

Leeds will hope to keep hold of their best players such as Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha over the summer while adding to the squad.
