Anderson impressed for Bristol Rovers last season and is wanted on loan by a host of clubs this summer, including the Gas, who are keen for him to return to aid their League One campaign.

Newcastle have yet to decide what to do with Anderson and boss Eddie Howe will study him in action over the course of the club’s pre-season.

Anderson is keen to do all he can to impress Magpies manager Howe and will look to compete for a spot in the Newcastle side.

However, he is happy to let Newcastle send him out on loan once again if the club feel it is the best course of action next season.

“I’ve just got to try and impress as much as I can really, and do my best”, Anderson told Newcastle’s official site.

“I’ve got to try and compete for a place around the team and see how I can do.

“I think not trying too hard to do that [is important] – just do your stuff, and see if you catch an eye, and work as hard as you can.

“It’s kind of like a free hit – I’ll give it my best shot, and if they think I need another season out [on loan], I’m happy to do that.

“Whatever’s best for me.”

Anderson played a key part in helping Bristol Rovers win promotion from League Two last season and the Magpies may feel that he would benefit from another campaign of regular game time.
