The Uruguayan arrived at Anfield for a record fee earlier this summer, adding to Jurgen Klopp’s options up front as Liverpool look to battle for domestic and continental trophies in the upcoming season.

Nunez, who has played in his homeland Uruguay, Spain and Portugal, is gearing up for his first taste of English football and is currently abroad as Liverpool continue pre-season preparations.

Liverpool midfielder Fabinho revealed that he is always trying to help Nunez out, even during training, as his English is not good at present.

Fabinho stressed that he got support from his team-mates during his initial days at Liverpool and he is trying to do the same thing for Nunez.

“Things are really different now but it was hard for me at the start with the adaptation”, Fabinho told The Athletic.

“That’s why whenever we sign a new player, I always try to help him as much as possible.

“Like Darwin now, his English isn’t very good, so I’m always trying to help him in training by explaining some situations to him.

“When I first came to Liverpool, [Roberto] Firmino and [Alberto] Moreno were really important for me.

“They helped me to settle in.

“I try to support new players now in the same way as those boys supported me.”

Nunez has so far struggled to impress for Liverpool in their pre-season games, but fans will be hoping he will find his rhythm soon with the 2022/23 campaign looming closer.
