The Whites made their seventh signing this summer as they snapped up England youth international Perkins on Tuesday.

Perkins knocked back a professional contract offer from his former club West Ham United and has now put pen to paper on a three-year deal at Elland Road.

Leeds boss Marsch expressed his delight in having the highly-rated forward at Elland Road and hailed him as an intelligent player.

Marsch stressed that even though Perkins is an explosive striker by nature, he is flexible in the positions he can slot in for Leeds.

“Yeah, he [Perkins] has got qualities and is an explosive striker”, Marsch told a press conference.

“I think he has flexibility in the positions he can play.

“He’s an intelligent player.

“We’re really excited to add him to our club.

“I think. You know, I need to get to know him more and more.”

West Ham are entitled to compensation for Perkins and if they do not reach an agreement with Leeds over a fee, a tribunal will decide the amount they will receive.
