Rangers beat another Dutch side in the shape of PSV Eindhoven in their playoff tie to earn their place in the group stage of the Champions League for the first time in 12 years.

The Glasgow giants have been handed a tough draw and have been placed in Group A, which includes Liverpool, Napoli and Ajax.

Schreuder watched Rangers beat Ajax’s closest Dutch rivals PSV in the playoff and insisted that contrary to what is being said in the Netherlands, the Gers were the dominant team and did not face too many problems.

The Ajax coach pointed to Rangers’ run to the Europa League final last season and feels other than being a strong team, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s squad have a strong mentality as well.

Schreuder was quoted as saying by Dutch outlet Voetbal Primeur: “I thought they were good, with a good squad.

“They were the dominant party from minute one. They did not get into much trouble in the second half.

“Last year, they were also very strong in Europe and now they have a strong team again, a good team.

“There is an incredible mentality in their squad.”

Calvin Bassey will see a return to Ibrox this season if he is selected in the Ajax team to face Rangers later this year.
