Lampard’s charges secured their first victory of the league season when last they hosted struggling West Ham United before the recent international break.

That win pushed Everton up to 13th place in the Premier League table, with the Toffees set to travel to St. Mary’s to take on Southampton on Saturday.

Lampard wants his side to get as many points as possible in the eight games before the World Cup so that they are in a good position once the league resumes in late December.

The 44-year-old wants his charges to give their all in the remaining games and will take it upon himself to make sure the players have everything they need to find a rich vein of form to take into the World Cup.

Get as many points as you can in the eight games we’ve got.

“It’s really clear.

“It is a mini-league and we just went into an international break when we felt good because we beat West Ham and made the league table look better”, Lampard said in his pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Southampton.

So, we want to get as many points as we can in the eight games and everyone goes their way, wherever, either they go on a break or play for their country.

You know, it’s an interesting season in a good way because it’s exciting – how many points can we get in these eight games so that we’re in a good position when we start again?

I think they’re Everton players and, in this period up until November the 12th or so when we play Bournemouth and they’ll leave, they just have to give everything for this team.

We always do the same thing.

“We always try and get the best environment, the best care for the players, to get them in the best position to perform well and hopefully if they do that come the World Cup they’ll be in good nick and ready to go.”

Everton have one win and four draws to show for their last five Premier League outings after beginning their league campaign with a pair of losses.
