Leeds suffered another injury blow this week when it emerged that Rodrigo could be out for more than two months after he underwent surgery on his ankle.
He came on in the second half against Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup last weekend and will now be missing for a considerable amount of time.
Some Leeds fans have blamed Jesse Marsch for the Spaniard’s injury, due to the American playing him a cup tie against lower league opposition, but Couzens stressed that is a preposterous suggestion.
He feels that no one should be blamed for the injuries and believes Leeds’ work in the winter window and Patrick Bamford’s return to fitness means the club can cope with Rodrigo’s absence.
The former White took to Twitter and wrote: “I read on here people blaming the manager for injuries.
“People get injured that’s part of football and no one can get the blame for that but with our recruitment and Bamford back we have enough in the squad now to cope with injuries.”
It remains to be seen whether Georginio Rutter gets his Premier League debut this weekend when Leeds travel to Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
