It has been more than ten days since they sacked Jesse Marsch but Leeds are still on the lookout for a new manager.
They have been turned down by as many as three targets and Michael Skubala has been asked to extend his interim role for the time being.
In a surprise development, Redknapp has contacted Leeds and is prepared to come out of retirement in order to manage the Whites at this stage of the season.
Giles admitted that it would be a major surprise if Leeds go for the veteran manager as he has been out of the game for a while and he is sceptical about whether it would work out.
The Leeds legend said on Off the Ball: “I’d be surprised with that.
“Harry has been out of the game for a long time, but why not? Leeds have been turned down by two or three managers, obviously because of the position they are in.
“But Harry has been out of the game for a long time and from my experience, it doesn’t usually work, getting somebody in who hasn’t been in there for a long time.
“They need a manager as quickly as they can because of the position they are in.
“But I’d be really surprised to see Harry coming back at this stage of his life.”
Leeds have not won a league game since November and are sitting 17th in the Premier League standings.
