The Magpies are flying high in the Premier League table, eyeing a spot in Europe for next season and are in the EFL Cup final.
Newcastle will face Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United in the final on Sunday, where they will be hoping to beat the Red Devils to lift their first trophy since 1955.
Burn, a crucial member of Eddie Howe’s side this season, acknowledged that he understands the significance of Sunday’s game to the Magpies faithful because he himself grew up as a fan of the club.
The 30-year-old stated that he has successfully managed to convey the sheer importance of the game to his team-mates and added that he has never played with a better group of players than the current Newcastle team.
“Growing up being a Newcastle fan, I know what it means to the people here”, Burn told The Gazette.
“You do feel it as though you’re doing it for them.
“Not just my family but people I know and who I went to school with.
“I think I got that message across to the lads.
“We made a big thing about wanting to do well in the cups this year.
“Now we have that opportunity.
“I don’t think I’ve played with a better group of lads for the atmosphere.”
Newcastle have failed to defeat Manchester United in their last six meetings and now Howe’s side will be determined to change the record on Sunday.
