Celtic have a nine-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table and are not expected to give Rangers any chance of staging a comeback in the title race.

They also beat their Glasgow rivals in the Scottish League Cup final and are preparing to square up against Rangers again in the Scottish Cup semi-final.

Many believe Celtic are too good and will again be an unstoppable force in Scotland next season, but Ferguson believes that the juggernaut can be stopped.

He conceded that the Bhoys look like an irresistible force now but they can be challenged if Rangers can get their recruitment absolutely spot-on over the summer transfer window.

The Rangers legend insisted that Michael Beale’s side need to make sure that they remain within touching distance of Celtic but stressed that they also need to make sure that they win the Scottish Cup in the ongoing campaign as well.

Ferguson said on the Go Radio Football Show: “They are a very good team but they are stoppable, there is no doubt.

“Rangers need to make sure that they get their signings spot on in the summer.

“There is no denying that they are absolutely on fire at the moment, winning games and going to difficult players and getting results.

“But now it’s up to Rangers to go and try and stop that.

“Over the next three or four months, it’s going to be massive leading into next season.

“Rangers know what they have to do, they have got to try and keep on their coattails in the league, and it is going to be very tough.

“One thing they need to do is retain that Scottish Cup at Ibrox.”

Beale has stressed the importance of getting their signings right in the summer in order to compete better next season.
