Richards, 19, is a familiar face in the Premier League 2, but the midfield prospect made only one senior team appearance for the Baggies.

He has been tracked down by Aston Villa for quite some time this summer, with Unai Emery’s side keen on adding young blood to their ranks.

His contract with West Brom expired at the end of June and it is now said that the Villans have seized the opportunity and have successfully secured the services of the 19-year-old.

It is further suggested that Aston Villa have signed the highly-rated youngster on a two-year contract.

Richards, who came through the youth ranks at West Brom, has so far earned three caps for England’s Under-17s.

His six goals and eight assists in the Premier League 2 campaign last season did not go unnoticed and such sublime displays have earned him an opportunity to shine with a Premier League outfit.

Time will tell whether he will be able to mark an impact with Aston Villa but his move to Villa Park could act as a springboard in his career in the future.
