The Reds have agreed to pay Brighton a fee of £111m to take the highly rated Ecuador international midfielder to Anfield this summer.

Chelsea have been pushing to land Caicedo, however the Blues have remained reluctant to meet Brighton’s asking price.

With Fabinho and Jordan Henderson sold to Saudi Arabian sides, Liverpool have taken the plunge and Caicedo is Merseyside bound.

And Klopp has admitted that a deal is agreed between the two clubs, though he cannot comment on personal term talks with the player.

The German, questioned on Caicedo, said in a press conference: “I can confirm the deal with the club is agreed. With the player we will have to see. Let’s see what happens.”

Klopp is coy on a possible medical for Caicedo though and whether that will happen today or not.

“I cannot tell you. I don’t know”, the Liverpool boss said, when asked if a medical will take place today.

Liverpool will be pushing to quickly get the deal over the line and reunite Caicedo with his former Brighton team-mate Alexis Mac Allister, who made the switch to Anfield earlier this summer.
